In Estancia Don Manuel we still maintain much of the traditional Argentine culture. For this reason we enjoy playing with the guests the Argentinian national sport of Pato. Pato has been played in Argentina since the 16th Century and is similar to the french sport ´horseball´. Like polo, the game is played on horseback. The pitch is smaller than a polo pitch with hoop-shaped goals at each end. The aim of the game is to throw the “pato” (ball) through the goals. Pato also helps improve riding skills for polo.Â
It has 3 main benifits:Â
- Â Improvement of confidence and security in the saddle, especially when riding at speed
- Practice riding-off technics,
- Development of flexibility on the horse, which enables easier twisting and therefore improves the polo swing.
